Artist Statement:

Michaela is well known for her life-long passion for baking cakes.  Seventeen years ago she started to explore another kind of baking. Since then fused glass has become an additional passion.

Like many fused glass artists, she initially studied stained glass, quickly moving on to fusing as she was drawn to the artistic possibilities of glass when heated. Since then she has explored a variety of techniques to develop texture, structure and color in her glass art. When not working in the studio or her kitchen, Michaela loves travelling and photography. Many of these captured memories become forever "framed" in her glass art. Besides many classes at the Art Glass Center, Michaela has studied with nationally and internationally known glass artists here in the United States and abroad. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in the Washington, DC area.

She became a studio artist at the Art Glass Center at Glen Echo Park in 2006.
