Anne Sanderoff-Walker

Fiber

Artist Statement:

Anne has been working with fiber since her first exploration with clothing construction as a young girl. She has been weaving for more than 25 years. She comes by these skills naturally as her foremothers were skilled seamstresses and family legend talks about her great-great-grandparents having a farm and sheep shearing business in the "old country."

The process of designing a fabric starts with the selection of yarns chosen for their color and texture. The patterns used in the weaving add another dimension, making each piece unique. Her current interest is in combining different techniques of adding color to her weaving by dyeing fibers before they go on the loom and/or after a weaving has been completed.

"The creative process is a mystery that continues to enchant me with its unexpected results."
