Stephen Lally strives to make functional pots that engage the user and all of his or her senses. His focus is on form. He uses the wheel but then alters the vessel’s shape, breaking up the cylinder. He wood fires to preserve the freshness and life of the clay and to document the firing process on the skin of the pot. He wants the user to experience the pot both as he sees it on the wheel and during its birth in the fire.  Stephen Lally was trained at the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well as Penland School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft. His work has been juried into both national and international ceramic exhibitions.
