After a career as a clinical and academic neurologist, Richard Foa began serious woodworking at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding near Pt. Townsend, Washington.  Courses at Snow Farm, The John Campbell School, The Arrowmont School of Craft, The Appalachian Center for Craft, The Haystack Mountain School of Craft and around the DC area have honed his artistic skills.  His work has been shown in many juried exhibitions sponsored by the Maryland Federation of Art, the Strathmore Mansion, the Artful Dimensions Gallery of Fredericksburg, the RiverArts Gallery of Chestertown, and the Goggleworks Art Center of Reading, Pennsylvania.  He is current president of the Chesapeake Woodturners and a member of the Montgomery County Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners.
