Jowita Allen is a jewelry studio artist born in Poland, who has lived for over a decade in Washington DC area. She was trained as a metalsmith at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in DC, as well as The Art League of Torpedo Factory in Alexandria VA. Jowita finds metalsmithing very intriguing. She is fascinated by the diversity of techniques that can be used in every object, its refinement and its conceptual development during the process of creation. In her mind jewelry should not be separate from nor be ambivalent to the individuals. It should reveal their personality and manifest their presence. Jowita’s designs combine bold forms and textures, mixing precious metals, semiprecious stones and alternative materials such as plastics, resin or rubber. She creates jewelry with a contemporary look, that exposes beauty through modern simplicity of the design.
