Artist Statement:

In the '50s there were few places to explore jewelry as an art form. Jan Maddox's first jewelry class was at university, but after a graduate degree in painting and ceramics she found that jewelry offered more options and fun as an emerging medium. Retired as a professor at Montgomery College in crafts, jewelry, design, and art appreciation, she finds it still challenging to explore traditional aspects of craft. She continues to produce handmade, one-of-a-kind objects that she hopes will delight our eyes and enrich our lives.
